Is healing power just for healers? This is a good question, and one that I get asked often. The answer is no. Healing power is for everyone that believes.
According to 1 Corinthians 12 there is a ministry gift called, gifts of healings. This is a gift of the Holy Spirit given as He wills to give to an individual. This person may or may not end up behind a pulpit. But regardless, wherever they go healing follows them.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 tells us concerning the gifts of the Spirit, "There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills."
I see some frequent errors in the body of Christ that need to be clarified concerning the administering of healing.
1. These nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, including the gifts of healings are given to individuals as the Spirit wills. In other words, we cannot just decide that we are going to have a healing ministry. This is a specific calling of God on an individual's life. This calling is irrevocable, and is for the benefit of others.
2. Not everyone is called to have a healing ministry, but all believers in Christ Jesus are called to exercise their everyday faith and lay hands on the sick for healing.
Mark 16: 17-18 says, "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Our physical well-being is so important to the Lord that He provided more than one way for us to be supernaturally healed.
1. By an individual called by the Holy Spirit to operate in the ministry of healing.
2. Or through our own faith to believe for our own healing or for the healing of another by the laying on of hands.
The healing power of the Holy Spirit is for both the healing minister, and for the individual who will exercise their faith and believe in His power to heal.
