Take a moment and see if you've bought into the myth that when we get a clear assignment from God, it's on us to carry it out in our own strength. While that seems normal in the world, it's not God's way.
"Death, you may think you have won. Yes, the wounds you have inflicted are deep. And we will mourn as we nurse those wounds. But in truth, you have lost again!"
How do we remain deeply rooted—so that no matter what life throws our way, we are steady and confident in God's goodness and love, not full of worry and never failing to bear fruit?
We would never want to bring up a child and expose them to our imperfections or the rest of our inadequate family. After all, what would happen if someone saw our real lives posted on Instagram?
No matter what season your mothering is in, whether it's the diaper-changing years, the education years or the letting-go years, once you are a mother, you carry that ministry in your heart throughout your lifetime.
There is an evil force that works against us and tries to prevent us from entering into the promises of God. But God's people need to be equally forceful in this battle.
Perhaps the church would be better off if we called a moratorium on our inner debating, if only for a short while, to truly empathize with the grieving, hurting, doubting and searching that our Christian neighbors across the theological aisle are facing right now.
