Pastor and author Beth Jones of Valley Family Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has spent many years teaching people the basics of faith. But her new book, Reinvent: Start Fresh and Love Life, seems God-ordained "for such a time as this."
So often, we find ourselves in what she calls "the gap," Jones tells host Michael McIntyre on the Next Level podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. "It's that distance between where we thought our ideal self would be by now and where we actually are in life. And that distance between those two points is the gap. And sometimes I call it the 'hope deferred makes the heart sick' season, because we're not quite there yet. And we feel stuck. And there are a lot of reasons for that," Jones says.
"And now, this particular season, we're all in this global pandemic. ... It's a massive crossroads. And it's creating even bigger gaps for people, unexpected gaps that they have no plans for. ... When I wrote this book, like began writing it about a year and a half ago, I had no earthly idea—of course, none of us did—where we'd be living now. But God did. That's the cool part. The Holy Spirit always has something ready to help us. He prepares us for things to come. And so I'm super pumped. I think God's going to help us get a reinvention road map to close that gap."
